Heathfield Farm is a simple, friendly campsite on the outskirts of Freshwater in the west of the island. The site offers grass pitches in farm fields with views across the western countryside towards Tennyson Down and the Yar valley. This is a straightforward camping operation run by a farming family, with a personal touch that larger parks cannot match.

Facilities include toilets, hot showers, washing-up areas, and electric hookups on some pitches. There is no shop, bar or entertainment, the site's appeal lies in its simplicity and its location. Freshwater village is within walking distance, with shops, a Co-op, pubs and a fish and chip shop. Freshwater Bay, one of the island's most photographed coves, is about a mile south, and the walk up to Tennyson Down from the bay is one of the classic Isle of Wight walks.

The western end of the island has the best walking, the most dramatic coastline, and the quietest roads. Heathfield Farm puts campers right in the middle of it. The Needles, Alum Bay, Yarmouth and the chalk downs are all within easy reach. The site fills up in high summer but rarely feels overcrowded, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Campervans and small motorhomes are accepted alongside tents.
